Halbach Array

Halbach Array

Model:Halbach Array

The NdFeB Halbach Array we offered is a two pole version that is 110mm in diameter with a 30mm diameter central hole. It is 40mm in axial length. It uses standard +80 deg C maximum recommended operating temperature NdFeB (Neodymium Iron Boron). The field in the centre of the air gap is at least 10000Gauss.

Halbach array is a magnetic structure that is similar to the ideal structural engineering, the goal is to generate the most amount of the strongest magnetic field. Scientists discovered this special permanent magnet structure, and gradually improve the structure, eventually forming the so-called "Halbach" magnet.

Halbach magnet structure is a nearly ideal engineering structures, the goal is to generate the most amount of the strongest magnetic field.

Using a special arrangement of the magnet means, the field strength to enhance the direction of the unit. For works there is extremely important.

Halbach magnetic magnet

In 1973, the American scholar Mallianson in the structure of the permanent magnet assembly experiments discovered a strange structure of permanent magnets, and called it "Magnetic Curiosity". He was not aware of the value of such a structure. In 1979, the American scholar Klaus Halbach reuse field generated by a variety of permanent magnet structures make electron acceleration experiments, they found this particular permanent magnet structure, and gradually improve the structure, eventually forming the so-called "Halbach" magnet. Halbach magnet Radial ring is combined with parallel arranged together, if you ignore the end effect and the magnetic permeability of the material seen around infinity, then the permanent magnetic field structure eventually formed a unilateral (one-sided field), which is a significant feature of Halbach. This feature means that Halbach magnet linear motor has a good value.

With respect to the conventional motor, Halbach motors are the following advantages

power density

1 Compared with the traditional structure of the permanent magnet motor, the mutuals uper position radial magnetic field strength on the other side so greatly enhance this would effectively reduce the volume of the motor,to enhance the power of the motor density.

2 rotor is no longer needed chute

In conventional permanent magnet motor, due to the inevitable presence of the air gap magnetic field harmonics, in general, based on the rotor chute weaken its impact. In Halbach motor, because the air gap magnetic field distribution of the higher degree sinusoidal harmonic content is small, so the rotor without a chute.

3 rotor can be non-core material

Halbach magnet because unilateral field shielding effect resulting from the distribution of the magnetic material for the rotor is no longer necessary to provide access, not only to provide a larger selection of materials selected from the rotor, and the system may have a lower moment of

inertia and less good performance should be attached quickly.

4 high efficiency permanent magnet

Due to the results of Halbach magnetized magnets, which leads to higher operating point of the permanent magnet, generally more than 0.9, to improve the utilization of the permanent magnet.

5 can use a centralized winding

Permanent magnet motors are often used in traditional distributed windings to weaken the influence of harmonic MMFs. In Halbach motor because of its high degree of sinusoidal magnetic field distribution of the harmonic magnetic field has little effect, it can be centralized winding.

Motor using Halbach magnet arrangement can reduce the torque ripple of the motor, thus greatly reducing the requirement for the motor bearings.
